Shiretoko is a peninsula of rich natural beauty located in the northeastern part of Hokkaido, and is a registered World Natural Heritage site. The area is a pristine wilderness with a rich ecosystem. The name Shiretoko means “end of the earth” in the Ainu language, and its harsh yet beautiful natural environment attracts visitors.

Shiretoko is characterized by its seasonal natural beauty and diverse flora and fauna. Spring and summer are the best seasons for nature observation, when many animals become active, including wild brown bears, Ezo sika deer, and white-tailed eagles.
