About Chusonji(Temple)

Chuson-ji Temple, located in Hiraizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture, is a symbolic temple from the era of the Oshu Fujiwara clan's prosperity. It was founded in 850, and its founder is said to have been Jikaku Daishi Ennin. The temple was developed by the Oshu Fujiwara clan during the late Heian and Kamakura periods, and its culture and history are strongly reflected in the temple.

The main attraction of Chuson-ji is its Konjikido. The interior of Konjikido is covered with pure gold leaf, and its opulence and beauty overwhelm visitors.
