Nakagusuku Castle Ruins, located in Kitanakagusuku Village, Nakagami County, Okinawa Prefecture, is one of the representative castles (gusuku) of the Ryukyu Kingdom period, built between the 14th and 15th centuries. The castle is known for its defensive functions and beautiful stone architecture, and was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000 as “Gusuku and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu.
