About Tennoji Zoo

Tennoji Zoo, located in Tennoji-ku, Osaka, is the third oldest zoo in Japan and was opened in 1915. The zoo covers an area of approximately 11 hectares and is home to approximately 1,000 animals of more than 200 species. The zoo is a popular spot for families and tourists alike, as it offers a rich natural environment in the heart of the city.

One of the features of the Tennoji Zoo is its nature-oriented exhibition method. There are many areas that recreate the animals' habitats, allowing visitors to observe the animals in a more natural setting. For example, in the "African Savanna Zone" visitors can see giraffes and zebras roaming in a wide grassland, and in the "Asian Forest Zone" Asian elephants and red pandas spend time in their natural habitat.

The Tennoji Zoo also offers a wide range of educational programs and events, allowing visitors to enjoy themselves while learning about the animals. Guided tours by zookeepers, animal petting experiences, and special seasonal exhibits are offered for the enjoyment of both children and adults. The animal feeding experience is especially popular, providing a rare opportunity to observe animals up close.

The park also has a beautiful Japanese garden and pond where visitors can enjoy strolling and resting. This allows visitors not only to observe the animals, but also to spend time relaxing. In addition, Tennoji Park, Osaka Municipal Museum of Art, Tsutenkaku Tower, and other tourist attractions are located nearby and can be combined with a visit to the zoo to make a full day's sightseeing plan.

The Tennoji Zoo is an attractive tourist spot for its rich natural environment, extensive educational programs, and diverse animal exhibits. Visitors can spend a relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of the city while interacting with the animals. When you visit Osaka, be sure to visit the Tennoji Zoo and enjoy its charms.
