About Shibuya Area
The place where young people gather most in Japan
Shibuya is one of the three major subcenters of the Yamanote area, along with Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, and is one of the busiest areas in Japan, centered around Shibuya Station. It is known as the “town of the young,” and is lined with department stores, fashion buildings, specialty stores, and restaurants.
In front of Shibuya Station, there is a bronze statue of Hachiko the loyal dog, a famous meeting place, and just across from it is the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The Shibuya Scramble Crossing is well-known worldwide and attracts many tourists from Japan and abroad.
Across the scramble crossing from the station is Shibuya Center Gai, where restaurants and game centers are concentrated.
